Progress is slow, and the process is the point.

I'm a competitive distance runner. I've represented my county, completed multiple marathons, and train with Belgrave Harriers, one of London's oldest athletics clubs.

Running at that level is mostly just doing the work. High mileage, consistent sessions, managing the accumulation of stress across months of training. There's very little mystery to it once you accept that the compound effect of unremarkable daily decisions is what actually produces results.

What it has taught me — and I mean this in a practical rather than motivational sense — is that the gap between knowing what to do and doing it is where most things are decided. That applies to marketing as much as it does to a track session at 6am.
